Marbella completes the 5G implementation

Marbella has completed the implementation of 5G, which is an added attraction to promote the arrival of international companies at a time when connectivity is essential for business development. The Councilor for Innovation and New Technologies, Cristóbal Garre, has highlighted this milestone in the presentation this Thursday of the annual balance of the delegation. In this sense, he has indicated that this new technology “will allow companies to set their sights on our municipality for the teleworking of their teams”, as well as developing projects linked to the ‘Internet of things’.

Garre has also underlined that 2021 has been the year in which municipal teleworking processes and electronic administration are consolidated due to the needs arising from the pandemic. “We have continued to adapt the procedures to the new demands with the contracting of new software and hardware systems and, especially, minimizing the vulnerability of the networks”, he explained.

In addition, last year competitions were held for telecommunications services, which will mean savings of 30 percent in telephony or for new computer systems, according to estimates made by municipal officials.

The mayor has been accompanied by the general director of the branch, Baldomero León, who has indicated that the municipal website www.marbella.es has registered a total of 1,809,614 visits, highlighting the section where all the news related to the pandemic is reported . During 2021, proposals have also been submitted to the Next Generation grant program to advance next-generation connections in municipal buildings.
